SOMON AIR RECEIVED THE SECOND BOEING 737-800 AIRCRAFT

On September 8, 2022, Somon Air received the second Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a cabin configuration of 189 economy class passenger seats. The plane is painted in the well-known Somon Air livery and named after the Hero of the Republic of Tajikistan, Nusratullo Makhsum.

On September 7, 2022, Somon Air held a presentation of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Dushanbe International Airport. The event was held with the participation of representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the diplomatic corps accredited in Tajikistan, partner companies, Boeing delegation as well as touragencies and the media. Abdulkosim Valiev, Manager of the airline, speaking at the presentation, noted that the expansion of the fleet will help Somon Air with the developing of its route network and increase the number of frequencies on regular flights, as well as improve the quality of service. “It is with great pleasure that the expansion of our fleet coincides with the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. The new aircrafts will help with the developing of the route network for the convenience of our passengers. We thank ACG for their trust and cooperation, and we are also convinced that our professional relationship will be strengthened and has a good growth potential,” - said Abdulkosim Valiev.

On August 30, 2022, Somon Air received the first of two Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. The plane is named after the Hero of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mirzo Tursunzoda. Both aircrafts are received on operating lease from one of the largest USA based leasing companies - ACG (Aviation Capital Group). Thus, the airline now operates a fleet of two Boeing 737-900 and four Boeing 737-800.

Aviation Capital Group was founded in 1989 and is one of the world’s premier full-service aircraft asset managers with approximately 475 owned, managed and committed aircraft as of June 30, 2022, which are leased to approximately 85 airlines in approximately 45 countries. ACG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Century Corporation.
