SOMON AIR CEO BECAME A MEMBER OF THE IATA NOMINATING COMMITTEE

SOMON AIR CEO BECAME A MEMBER OF THE IATA NOMINATING COMMITTEE

The Chief Executive Officer of Somon Air Thomas W. Hallam II became a member of the Nominating Committee of International Air Transport Association (IATA). It was announced at the 75th Annual General Assembly of IATA in Seoul (Republic of Korea). The IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit is the world's largest gathering of airline leaders.

The Nominating Committee is a subsidiary body of the Annual General Assembly of IATA and consists of 10 members. This Committee is convened by the IATA Corporate Secretary, in consultation with the Board Chair and the Director General of IATA with the responsibility to make recommendations to the next General Assembly for the membership of the IATA Board of Governors.

Regional Director of IATA Raimonds Gruntins congratulated Thomas W. Hallam II with the nomination as a new member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Nominating Committee and stated: «It is a great achievement and a great responsibility. I am certain your extensive aviation experience and international background will be true assets to the Committee, and that you will use this opportunity to grow ties with the other members to continue developing aviation in both Tajikistan and Central Asia. For this reason, it is extremely important to have Somon Air (the only member from Tajikistan) in our association actively participating in shaping the future of aviation. Furthermore, your presence is an assurance that Central Asia airlines comply with the highest safety standards, namely IOSA, ensuring safety remains the number one priority for airlines and the industry. This was clearly stated in Dushanbe during the first Central Asia CEO Roundtable you brilliantly co-organized with the Civil Aviation Authority of Tajikistan last month».

To date, Somon Air has successfully operated flights from Tajikistan to Germany, the UAE, Turkey, China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In the fleet of the airline, there are Boeing 737-300, -800 and -900 aircraft. Since 2017, Somon Air is IATA-member.
