Transportation of animals
Passengers must inform the airline about transporting an animal when purchasing their airline ticket, specifying the species, quantity, and weight. Animals are accepted for carriage only if the passenger assumes full responsibility for the health and well-being of their pets. The carrier is not liable for any injury, illness, or death of animals during transportation. The passenger is also responsible for complying with all regulations and permits required by governments, including entry and exit permits, health certificates, and any other restrictions imposed by countries, regions, or relevant authorities.
On Somon Air flights, pets are transported in special containers, cages or carriers both in the cabin and in the baggage compartment of the aircraft as checked baggage. Only cats and dogs weighing up to 5 kg (including the weight of the container) can be transported in the cabin. Birds and other pets, as well as cats and dogs weighing from 5 kg to 50 kg (including the weight of the cage) are transported in the baggage compartment of the aircraft.
Animals are transported for a fee and are charged at twice the rate of excess baggage. The cost of excess baggage depends on the flight route. For more detailed information, follow the link.
Guide dogs accompanying passengers with disabilities are allowed to travel in the aircraft cabin free of charge. In addition to other required documents, passengers with a guide dog must provide a certificate of the dog’s specialized training. The dog must wear a muzzle and a collar with a leash.
To transport animals, passengers must provide the following documents:
- Veterinary passport of the animal;
- Certificate of the animal's health status (issued by any state veterinary clinic). The inspection of the animal must be carried out no earlier than 5 days before the scheduled flight departure date. The certificate should also include information about vaccinations by age. The last rabies vaccination must be given no later than one year and no earlier than 2 months before departure;
- Certificate of absence or presence of breeding value;
- Import permit;
- Certificate of special training of a guide dog.
When planning a trip, we strongly recommend that you get the necessary advice from the veterinary service of the departure airport.

Important Information!
Only one animal is allowed per cage/container. The cage must be large enough for the animal to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably. The base of the cage/container must be waterproof and covered with absorbent material, and the door must have a secure lock. If the container is too small or does not meet the above requirements, the airline reserves the right to refuse transportation of your pet.
For transportation in the cabin of Somon Air aircraft (Boeing B737-800/900), the dimensions of the container/cage must not exceed 32×43×20 cm (L×W×H). The total weight of the pet with the container/carrier must not exceed 5 kg.
For transport in the baggage/cargo compartment, the total weight of the animal with the cage must not exceed 50 kg. Maximum dimensions: 120×80×80 cm (L×W×H).
In the baggage/cargo compartment, cats, dogs, and birds must be transported in cages/containers with a strong, rigid frame and carrying handles. Cages with wheels must have brakes to prevent movement during the flight. Animals weighing more than 50 kg (including the cage) are accepted only through the cargo terminal and must be shipped under an Air Waybill (AWB).
Attention!
Due to strict import restrictions for animals into the UAE, Somon Air does not accept animals as checked baggage on flights from Dushanbe to Dubai. Animals are only accepted for transportation through the cargo terminal.
