Civilian and service weapons transportation

Civilian weapons (sports weapon, hunting, and self-defense weapons, except for gas weapons) are allowed to be transported by plane only upon obtaining permission from the competent authorities.

The transported weapon must be checked-in as hold baggage, which is transported separately from the passengers in the hold of the aircraft. Transportation of weapons in the cabin is strictly prohibited. Firearms are allowed to be transported strictly in a discharged state and with appropriate packaging (cases, gun holsters etc.).

The passenger must notify the airline in advance (when booking a ticket) of his intention to carry the weapon. Also, please note that in this case, the passenger must arrive 2 hours prior to departure in order to check-in.

The Aviation Security Officer performs the procedure of acceptance of self-defense and service weapons for transportation, execution of the necessary documents, delivery on board of the aircraft at the airport of departure and issuance of the weapon at the airport of destination.

Fees for the transport of civilian weapons are regulated, and such luggage is treated as excess baggage. Additional fees may apply for processing and accompanying luggage with the weapons and cartridges for them - up to EUR 100 per item. Service weapons are transported without any charge.
